If a book you require is not available at any of the KUHeS Library locations, you may request it through interlibrary loans from another library in Malawi.
Items available for interlibrary loan
Photocopies of journal articles, conference papers and chapters of books.
Books may be requested within KUHeS Libraries or Malawi (we do not lend books to international libraries).
The Nkhokwe Institutional Repository theses and dissertations will be supplied free of charge to requesting libraries, both national & international.
We do not lend audio-visual material to requesting libraries.

Document delivery method
E-mail delivery is acceptable when the requesting or providing library lacks the necessary facilities to receive articles.
Books will be mailed to the requesting client and can be picked up at any of our libraries.
Loan & renewal periods
The loan period of a book is 4 weeks.
No renewal is possible.
Requesting clients will be blacklisted if they do not respond to recall notices or invoices.
The requesting client is responsible for the replacement of a lost or damaged book.
Tariffs
Unless libraries have a reciprocal free of charge agreement, fees as determined by the KUHeS Libraries shall be charged for interlibrary loan documents.
Photocopies exceeding the normal standard will be charged for, according to the KUHeS Libraries price structure.
The tariffs for documents to be sent by courier shall be applied unless libraries have a reciprocal agreement.
The rate for journal articles or book chapters shall be determined by courier services charges.
HOW MANY REQUESTS CAN I PLACE?
As a guide we offer the following allowance of inter-library loan requests per year to University members, free of charge
